FAQs

What do I need to bring to class?

Please bring a towel and your usual nappy bag and feeding supplies. We will have mats and cushions laid out and oil will be provided at the first session. We will discuss the oil provided and perform a patch test on baby’s arm in class.

What age should my baby be for baby massage?

Ideally baby should have had their 6-8 week check before the first session, there isn’t a problem if they haven’t but please let me know.

Sessions provided at the moment are aimed at newborns and pre-crawlers, I do hope to start a separate, similar session for crawlers soon. If your baby is mobile and you are interested in a massage session please do contact me to see what we can arrange.

Who can come with the baby?

Mums, dads, grandparents or any other carer can attend with baby, but we can only accommodate one adult per baby and ideally the same adult would attend all the sessions.

What happens in the baby massage sessions?

Our sessions will start with time to settle in and introductions. I will talk through what strokes we will be practising and we will have a guided relaxation moment for the grown ups. We will then move onto the baby massage. After the massage I will hand out teas, coffees and refreshments with time for a chat. At the end of the session I will give hand outs with descriptions of the strokes we worked on in class so you can practice at home.

Why do I need to sign up for a five week course?

Each of the sessions will cover a different part of the body massage, for example week 1 we will work on legs and feet, in week 2 we move on to tummy and recap the previous class, and so on working up the body. Leading on to week 5 where we will do a full body massage.

What if my baby needs a nappy change, feed, cries or falls asleep?

I encourage parents or carers to tend to their babies needs during the class. At some point most of the babies will need a cuddle, feed or a change, maybe even a nap. We are baby led in these classes and it’s very relaxed.
